"The Furnace"
In a world full of so much junk & where everything's moving so fast, we as people, need a place where we can detox & just be still with God. That's why the Furnace exists...intimacy.
In a world where our family members get cancer, our friends get shot, our parents get divorced, and there are so few people who know Jesus...we need prayer. Where AIDS, dirty water & sex slavery are world issues, we as a people need a place where we can stand before God & cry out for justice and for His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. That's why the Furnace exists...involvement.
Birthed out of the Prayer Rooms concept from 24-7 Prayer, Fusion launched this room in April of 2007. Here in this holy space, we host seasons of 24-7 prayer, 24-1 hour shifts per day, praying around the clock for our families, our city, our nation & the world (seasons meaning we don't pray here 365 days per year, but for a week or two at a time). Intimacy with God & Involvement with the world working hand-in-hand.
This room is more of a prayer experience, rather than "prayer as normal"
(normal prayer = sitting in a dark room praying until you run out of words 45 seconds later!). We have lots of "prayer provokers", things like a Cross that you can nail your sins to & feel a crown of thorns; Communion; Washing your hands of past sins; Reading a Bible to hear God; Drawing; Painting; Writing poetry; Praying for your family members; Praying for the world. We have learned that prayer isn't always talking to God, but sometimes listening, sometimes singing, sometimes painting, etc. Prayer is communication with God with all of you...not just your voice.
